Notes of the day(s)

For an odd length segment of time, there wasn't much going on. A very blah week. Two more job opportunities came along, and while either would've been great for me, neither seemed too promising. Then Friday came around, and depending on your own personal religious views, something happened. Hand of God, karma, fate, or well-aligned stars ... whatever it was, the luck factor and busy quotient kicked in for another odd length segment of time.

1) New job opportunity #1 was actually being handled by a second person, not the rude one I'd talked to. But she was quite impressed with my credentials, and it turns out their office is just down the hill from me. I waved while on the phone.

2) The babe's company Christmas party took place at PSINet Stadium, where the Ravens play, and I got to see the club level for the second time ever. It is NICE, and has a cool southern view to the highways zipping past south of town, as well as the traintracks for the commuter trains I used to ride. I noticed as one went by during the party.

3) The new job I've been hunting for weeks gets back to me, in the form of a "I was going to call you but the owner still has your resume, so please call me" email. It includes a home number, but alas, I'm about to be late for the aforementioned party. I try the home number from the party, but it just rings. Drat, but what kind of news do YOU think it is? =)

4) But no time to stop and think yet, because Saturday morning is more soccer. 1st game at 7am again. Bleah. But at least I'm working with another referee for the next 5 hours who's a decent guy and a good ref. Only one coach yells at me, and he said before the game that he was new at this, so his opinion is even more worthless. It was strange, though, since he asked me if I had a son on the other team. Whatever.

5) And that night was the wedding of the daughter of one of my mother's best friends. Her family and ours have been relatively close over the years. At the reception I got to talk with plenty of my mother's friends, who congratulated me on my engagement several times over. I hope I didn't steal any of the bride's thunder, but I did enjoy the attention. Even danced some ... thought that's a topic I'm going to have to think about.

So now it's Sunday, and I can catch my breath (and catch up with all of you). Well, kinda catch up. I was just passed, you see. ekilon wiped the mat with the SAT's, scored that 1600, and deserves some well-earned kudos. Congrats, you.

Most of the busy is gone, but here's hoping the luck stays. It usually does.

Nah, no concerts. No moolah and no good shows. *shrug* Wish there was good shows coming up, but the only one I've even thought about lately is Living Colour the day after Christmas. Maybe there'll be more in the new year, or maybe I'm looking at the wrong places. I have been on a slightly folkish kick lately ...
