Yesterday, our new shed went up. Quickly, even. They started crack-of-dawn early (and rang the doorbell which woke my daughter, joy) and finished at lunchtime. The earth around the foundation is still too high for good drainage or for the doors to open completely, but the paving folks are coming back to take care of some things like that, and this is totally a side effect of the pad being built too low. That said, the shed looks great. I like the way the shelves inside worked out and the inside looks like it has plenty of room.
My daughter is crawling around with a passion and has two teeth noticeably coming in now. Both have occasionally caused her some pain that I really can't do much about besides consolation or Tylenol. On the one hand, when she pulls up to a brief standing position on the side of a table or a person's leg, it's a big sign of progress in terms of mobility & balance. At the same time, her balance isn't exactly 100% so she falls easily. I know letting her wobble helps her sort out what she needs to do to stand without wobbling, but I try my best to be ready-to-catch if I see her about to fall. Kind of like learning her "signals" as communication, I think I'm going to need to start to learn her "warning signs" of trouble brewing and find the right place to be to let her do things on her own without letting her take too big of risks quite yet. Padding the sharp corners of the coffee table was good, but I don't want to pad everything and get her convinced that furniture is fun to bounce off of. There will be bumps and bruises and tears to go with the giggles and smiles; protective I may be, but that much I have accepted.
And tonight is MORE HOCKEY. Go Caps, beat the Flyers ... *crosses fingers*.
