Last night, I dreamed I bought a guitar, and with help from my musical relatives, I learned to play. I practiced more and more, then convinced one of my friends (a drummer) to let me join his band, more because I have a decent voice, something they need right now. Through practice and a gig or three, we kept getting better. Then I got brave enough to hand them some of the songs that had been in my head. A couple the others thought were cool, and with some work they rocked. then adapted parts. Most got good enough to add to the other tracks we were working on. Greasing some palms and passing out a few demos got us a chance to record in a small local studio. The resulting album was excellent, and we sold pretty good at gigs. Radio stations started playing one of our songs during their local music segments ... one of the ones I'd written.

A week later, after a gig, Thom Yorke of Radiohead walks up and talks to me about re-doing one of the other songs I wrote for a movie soundtrack. His voice warbles for some reason. Next thing I know, I'm in a studio with Radiohead working on a song. I'm ensconced in bliss, trading commentary on melodies and progressions, and my cell phone rings. It's the drummer's number. I stare at the phone and pick it up. I say, "Hey, man ..."

And I wake up.

Dreams that cover weeks or months of time within the dream can REALLY screw with my sense of time upon waking up.

And I can't, for the life of me, remember the songs I was working on.

last night.
I dreamed that I was sneaking up on the people from back stage. They were DR, with a piano at DRR. Brian was playing the piano, and the actress who played Ann in "all my sons" was singing some song which was from "the sound of music", but had the phrase "adelaide, adelaide!" in it (Guys and Dolls) and a tune which I'm almost sure was in my head. I woke up humming it this morning and remembered it for a while. It was very repetitive... 3 on the same, down a half then a whole, then a whole, up a whole, repeat on different start note. I think. Maybe.

The odd thing was, I also joined them and started singing along and watched the tape later.
