Upstairs wiring

I'm figuring it's a four-parter.

1) Know the "lay of the land" inside the affected wall a bit better, mostly scouting around, maybe cutting a hole for the new jack and the other side of the switch.
2) Get the parts, like the new box and jack mount (Home Depot run), and get the spare coax cable from my co-worker.
3) Do the wiring changes
4) Fix the walls to patch any "before" holes, whether that is just plain box covers or spackle and paint as needed.

The TV cabinet is coming Thursday, and I'm aiming to be into or through Step 3 on Thursday night. It'll be a lot easier before that cabinet gets here. I also have a hat rack that I need to mount on the wall so we can get it off the floor and get my hats off of the closet door.

I live with it as a necessary evil, but I'll be a lot happier once more of the "mess" is up off the floor again. Happy may not be as accurate as "less bothered". I've got enough clutter inside my own head, and with a visually-keyed memory, it's like walking past a whirlpool on a regular basis. If I look, I almost can't help but either sort pieces for later or try to whittle it down somehow, and while it doesn't sound bad, I already get easily sucked into things and it's not like they would be finding their permanent homes. Like with filing the papers I've been talking about organizing for a while. I need to reinstitute the system I had before, but I'd like to use a small filing cabinet instead of the overburdened folder rack that currently occupies part of my closet floor. I'll get there, eventually.

I'm sure this goes without saying, but if you need any help with dropping wires, mounting boxes, terminating wires, that sort of thing, just give me a call. As of this week, I will have all of my tools back in Bmore, so I'll be alot more helpful for that sort of thing.

I'll take all the help (suggestions, tools, extra hands) I can get. It's nothing too complex, but the right knowhow and equipment can turn a 3 hour job into a 30 minute job. I expect I'll pick your brain a bit before I get too far. Thankee!
