Phew. I've survived Day 1 of Otakon and most of the wedding whirlwind. The convention was great. We did a lot of walking and finding out where things were. We got lots of pictures, and had a bunch taken of us, too. I remember 5 different "SQUEEE!" moments of people spotting us, and my wife got plenty of questions about her awesome hiraikotsu. But the huge boomerang sustained some damage from a fall to the small patch of stone floor by the food court on the top level. A fall on the carpet covering the rest of the convention floor wouldn't have been nearly as bad, but it will be patchable. We narrowly missed the Gainax panel, caught the Inuyasha panel in the front row, and were also right in time for the Great Teacher Largo presentation/skit/packed room. I must agree with Largo, River City Ransom was the awesomest Nintendo game of all time that was not one of the "standards" (Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda).

As for the wedding (in an hour), the rehearsal went quickly, dinner at Schooner's was very excellent, and the groom is tense but generally in good spirits. We got plastered last night and he was passing out but still rolling in the middle of a game of Cosmic Wimpout. And was in 2nd place. =) Breakfast was delivered by his mom this morning, and I made the most coffee I have in years. A chat on the back porch ensued (with cigars, the groom wanted it that way) and we killed some time watching Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and playing poker.

So here I sit, ready in my tux and killing more time before leaving for the church. Excited, you bet. And ready for yet more photos.

I know you guys looked awesome at the con. Can't wait to see the pics. And, I hope you don't think you're stopping that whirlwind any time soon...
