Fun in the Rain

Golf ended up totally cancelled/postponed. So, instead, I went back to bed and slept in.

But I did head out to the RenFest. The rain was pounding hard when I left, but eased off as I arrived and stayed mostly lighter through the afternoon. It picked up again in the evening, but I didn't mind so much, thanks to my heavy wool coat. I wore it on the way in and on the way out, but took it off in the middle of the day because I did get a bit warm being under cover.

It was a good day. I got a great seat at the White Hart Tavern and kept it all day. That meant plenty of good singing. Pyrates Royale, the Merry Minstreal, Mickey O'Hooligan ... and even the O'Danny Girls. In the midst of The Moose Song [which I honestly had not heard before, or at least do not remember hearing], they conferred on stage and pointed me out, asking me to stand up. It was something like "Oh, I like him over there. Hey you in the white shirt, stand up. Yes, we mean you!" And yes, they sang a verse about me, and ... well ... included some comment about equines then compared me favorably to a moose. It is the Moose song after all. For my part, I smirked and blushed appropriately.

However, one mission was not accomplished. The Musical Traditions store was out of the Pyrates Royale's latest CD ... and when I flagged down Hemlock to buy one when the pirates were on stage, the woman next to me raised her hand at the same time and snagged the last copy he had. As someone at the next table put it, "breasts triumph once more." So no new pirate music recordings for me. He said they were planning to press more soon and probably have some through the website.

Now to sleep off the large quantities of cider ...

"Moose... moose... I likes a moose...
I've never had anything quite like a moose.
I've had lots of lovers, my life has been loose...
But I've never had anything quite like a moose." ~O'Danny Girls.

Wet rennfest
Hmmmm. Pookah, at the White Hart, merrily singing, drinking and a little bit of flirting. Who would of thunk it?
Seriously though, glad you had an awesome time. I was thinking of you as our basement flooded, hoping you were having better luck staying dry than we were.

Basement flooded?!? ACK! I was a little damped on, but had nothing valuable on me except for my wallet and keys. I hope the tides weren't too high. I really know very little of waterproofing, except that your french drain doesn't always drain so well.

Re: Wet rennfest
Sorry your basement flooded... again. I know nothing about waterproofing a house as I do not own one, nor am I looking to be able to in the near future, but I know water IN the house sucks because houses are good for 2 things:
1) Hold all your stuff
2) Keep said stuff from getting wet/ tossed about/ destroyed by passing hobo

So in the future, put your oxygen and hydrogen in separate boxes when indoors. I can't stress enough how important that is and how much it can help keep the inside of your house dry.

Re: Wet rennfest
The basement isn't too big of a deal. Most of the stuff is waterproofed in one way or another. The only downsides being the one rug down there, and that the cat's litter boxes are down there. The rug is going when the basement gets redone, and the cat only pooped on the baathroom floor once before we moved the litterbox to dry ground.

We will get this taken care of in due time. I need to, I have some serious gaming space to create!

Sunday I was at the football game, so no dice there. However ... I would like to meet you guys for a brewski before Halloween, if you've got the time. Let me know how it looks (though next weekend's busy as all get out).
