Well, life is up and down. I signed up for a one-year trial Bally's membership, so I can go with my wife. The sore throat business is done and gone, and my breathing is fine now. I'm working from home most of the week for the time being, except for special meetings downtown.

And I screwed up my daycycle a bit since the new year, so insomnia hit me like a ton of bricks this week. Partly from staying up later, partly from not doing enough activity to get myself to be tired, partly from my wife's occasional snoring [=P =)], and partly from heartburn worsening. Mainly the heartburn. It was particularly bad last night, when I was actually tired and going to bed, yet couldn't fall asleep thanks to my stomach's discomfort and gurgling shortly after I laid down. I guess horizontal = bad, now. Used to be more of a problem when on my back, but even on my stomach I wasn't all right. Caved in, searched the internet to find out what the heck might be wrong with me, and came across descriptions of heartburn and acid reflux. I didn't know that's what heartburn really was ... I always figured that was something that would be higher up (and hit me when I was older, dammit!), like where my heart is. But the fact that it's when I lie down, and that the movements of my diaphragm do have an effect, that's definitely something. I also have been very full-feeling this week. I _think_ I've been eating usual quantities. Maybe it's too much soda or something. I did have a lot of that yesterday. Maybe I just need better posture when sitting. But I still feel full from lunch, which was only at 2:00 pm. Whatever. Probably just me being anxious about it. Note to self, get to gym on Saturday.

And, to make sure I don't end on a low note, my dad and I may soon be Baltimore Ravens season ticketholders! Didn't want to say anything when it was just a possibility, but it's now much more probable! As long as I don't blow too much cash or screw up paperwork or piss anybody off or the snow comes down from Kilimanjaro or GEEZ DAVE DON'T PANIC!

Can you tell I'm excited? I'll leave it at that.

I used to have the heartburn thing when I was lying down to sleep, and it kind of helped to put a couple big pillows behind my head, enough to have my head at a not-so-comfy right angle, yet cut off the acid path of the heartburn. My heartburn used to make me almost throw-up-it was so odd. Anyway, hope you find a solution, and enjoy the gym.

Thanks for the tip. Used to have it? That gives me some hope. I'll give that a try ... at this point I'll try almost anything. It did leave a bad taste in my mouth last night.
