November? Frickin' NOVEMBER?

Well, soon work will be easier, and life will be better. If I keep saying that, eventually, it should happen. Things ARE falling into place somewhat. We'll see how it pans out.

Eventually, it should happen. Yeah ... like January, if I'm lucky. I've continued to work like slave labor. It's really depressing if I stop to think about it. I had to stretch the limits of time and space to allow for getting my car a badly needed oil change yesterday morning. It was clicking so much I couldn't let it go much further. I still need a new battery or an electrical check. Probably needs a transmission fluid flush, too.

But I finally made a stand on my weekends. I'm not going to work completely through them any more. I can't continue to completely surrender my life to the project. It's not worth it to me, and I think people were beginning to expect it, and that's something I'm putting a stop to right now.

A point in my favor is that one of our other former employees ended up working herself into near-oblivion. Her recent marriage crumbled and ended badly, and they had just bought a house, too. I know the owner remembers. Since my wife has developed a tendency to call me near the end of the day to talk about dinner plans, she also uses it as an opportunity to tweak me about working late. He once mentioned to me (a couple months ago) that he appreciated the work I was doing but that I had to make sure to take care of my family. I'm not going to say in public that I don't want to end up like her, but I don't think I'll have to.

We'll see. End of the year means bonus time. And my job anniversary date is Jan 2nd, so the annual review raise thing is coming soon, too. And the guys who started a small company this summer are contacting me again. 5 months under their belt and they are turning a profit. He already said he's willing to concede 3 days working from home. This shows promise.

More later as I think about it.
