Legs of Steel, Thighs of Flame

I ache, but it's a good ache. I had three soccer games to do today. I was supposed to be a referee for 1 and a linesman for 2. Then the third guy of our officiating crew doesn't show, so I get the first game (U-12 boys) and the last game (U-16 boys).

Oww, my legs. I made $80 today, but OWWWWW! Got my exercise for the week, then chugged a bottle of Gatorade that was soooooooo tasty. I've also got a little of that shellshock feeling. Ready for anything to happen at any time.

We'll see. At least dinner won't be Cookie Crisp. =)

ew, gatorade...

A lot of the people I know seem to have stuff in common.

I think I know three soccer officiating people.
no.
four.
off the top of my head, anyway.

Gatorade is a thirst quencher. The only flavor I like is the fruit punch, and after running around like that (with NO lunch, mind you) I was REALLY thirsty ... and wanted to get that dirt taste out of my mouth. Dust. Bleah.

And soccer referees are best described as an odd lot. Some run, some don't. Some have ambition, some don't. Some have egos, some don't. Sure seems that way.

Besides, I guess that means you must know a slew of cool people, between refs and LJ-ers. =)

Water is a thirst quencher, too.
One of the refs I know has absolutely no ego at all.
It's real scary.
It's like he's constantly on the edge of doing something real dumb that hurts himself and not even caring at all. Not on purpose... he's intelligent, too. Just... like... if he got sick, he might not tell anyone about it, because he doesn't think it matters.
Often depressed Marky-boy is, but a good snuggler.

I'd say I know more people off lj than on...
but, then, I tend to know a lot of random people.

It's a lot of fun.
Sometimes I play a game where they name a city and I name someone I know who lives there or near there.
*grins*
I can usually go at least 5 of their choices without missing.

This Week, Our Intrepid Heroes Face A Dark And Shady Character, The Goalkeeper
Lively's a good word. I'm usually full of energy, sometimes too much so. I started kicking a ball around at age 5, and stuck with soccer for a long time. Anything you pick up at that age tends to stick with you.

But while I can keep up with players on fast breaks, I couldn't even approach a 600 series. I think my best game was a 155 or so, and let's not even think about my average. Ugh. Bowling's fun, but I could never be competitive at it.

The legs are improving, but my calves are still way tight. That'll improve as the season wears on, too, since Sunday was just my second day of games since November.

And fruit punch. I used to prefer the lemonade, but after a while (overload maybe) the lemon flavor got to me.
