Launched a website, saw some Ravens, and played with my daughter for a while this morning. Then again, I was up at 4 am. Not by alarm. *boggles*

In other news, Lucky Star certainly is a Seinfeld of an anime. Lots and lots of dialog. And chatter about lots of inconsequential stuff. But one drawing factor for some deeply entrenched anime fans is the sheer wealth of references. To quote a PR announcement about the series:

For many die-hard fans, Lucky Star's numerous jokes and references about a variety of loved anime and video game titles make it fun to watch. The first four episodes alone contain references to Full Metal Panic!, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Shuffle!, in addition to To Heart, Gunbuster, Sgt. Frog, Getter Robo, Wedding Peach, Case Closed, Cromartie High School, Pani Poni Dash!, Crayon Shin-chan, Galaxy Angel Rune, Star Blazers, Blade of the Immortal, and The Girl Who Leapt through Time.

I haven't seen all of those, but I've at least heard of them. Still ... that's a LOT of shows to reference. From what I've seen, catching all the references isn't necessary to appreciate the humor, like how you didn't need to be familiar with all of the cultural references to get a kick out of Animaniacs. It just adds another layer. Even so, I'm putting it on my "watch this" list. The endings might be some of the best. The two ending interview segments with the split-personality idol I've seen are hilarious, and supposedly the credits feature a different show character karaoke-style singing the show's ending theme each episode ... while the other characters talk over them cracking yet more jokes. Nice. Pookah approves.

Back to DOCUMENTATION HELL.
