Dec. 9th, 2005

And this makes at least two nights in a row I'm awake later than I should be.

I was procrastinatorially productive today. Instead of making great headway on my primary task at hand at the office, I've spent most of my efficiency on tackling other tasks that needed doing, with one particularly frustrating setup issue on an office-mate's PC taking up most of the afternoon. Eventually I got it, I think. I also filed LOTS of papers away, paid some bills, and finished scrubbing a PC for my seeester. Say that last part in Ren voice, and you'll get it.

Got some pictures I need to futz with, collate and the like. From Halloween dress-up to Carnegie Mellon before the university center was complete. I'll figure something out, eventually.

Here's hoping the winter storm charging down from the northwest dumps more snow than advertised ... I've gotten clearance to work from home if it's going to be extra-difficult to get in. I'll just need to make sure to get up at a reasonable hour so I can check and then call in. To that end ... night, folks.

Snow fizzled fo' shizzle
I know I was looking forward to using snow as an excuse to not go to work today. But seeing as I woke up this morning to an inch and a half (gasp!) I couldn't justify it. I actually made it to work quicker today because so many people were off the roads. Oh well, another Great Maryland White Death fails to materialize.

Re: Snow fizzled fo' shizzle
Well, I'd gotten the green light in advance, since I've been hoping to be working from home two days a week anyway. The problem has been finding days and times when it's not necessary for me to be AT the office. I was hoping that during the coding phase I'd be freer, but I can't quite get isolated enough yet to make it happen. So, any justifiable reason will do. They don't need to stretch far. Of course, this is the flipside of November, when I was iller than the Beastie Boys on Ebola and still couldn't buy a day off.

I'm almost amused by the whole snow panic thing now. Hopefully by January people will get over the "WHITE DEATH FROM THE SKIES!" attacks and get back to ignoring it and driving like idiots anyway like they usually do after the second or third good snowstorm.

Wow ... you got blanketed. I guess we were just far enough south to be too far down for the heart of the snowfront. From the weather maps, that was a really unusual setup of pressure systems. It reminded me of a few things I'd learned in geography and physics about barometric pressure, air fronts and wind currents. Geeky stuff, but fascinating to see in action.

So I'm glad you "dig the snow". =D Especially since you got plenty of it.
