Pookah on Wheels

I put my car in the shop today, as it really needed an oil change. This is fine, because I'm working from home today. But the shop I take it to is a couple miles down the road. What does an enterprising pookah do in this situation?

Call around to find somebody else who's home? Nah, slim chance of that.
Call a taxi? Nah, it's not that far.
Walk? I DO have to work today, you know.

The answer is: rollerblades. Yes, inline skates. Yee-hah! Granted, the pavement on the return trip is sub-optimal in several places, and almost the whole trip is down the busiest non-highway road around here. Two lanes each way, with spots as wide as seven total lanes. Some residential spots, a lot of businesses, a church or three, two McDonald's, a couple car dealerships, three strip malls, and a lot of cracked concrete.

Phew. The soles of my feet have been "vibrated", kinda tenderized from the more gravelly patches of pavement.

Still, it's for a good cause. And I'm going to see the Moody Blues in concert tonight! Tomorrow night, it's Glen Phillips and Five for Fighting in DC. TGIS. S for Summer concert season!
