Welcome to 2004

I turned in my notice at my job last Friday. It felt like a burden off my shoulders. I'd been deliberating for a couple weeks, though my gut told me to go with it. Now, I'm sort of a lame duck at my current job, and people are generally happy for me.

I'm glad that it's just a purely better offer. Sure, I've had my differences with my boss ... but to have a better schedule and better pay, you just can't beat it. Certainly makes it easier to talk to people about my departure.

As for me, I think my mood is muted excitement. I don't want to celebrate too much in front of my current coworkers, and I will miss most of them. That, plus still kicking this darn cold that I've had for a week. Having the siding guys working on my house is good, but it's certainly made waking up a tougher proposition.

Well, it'll be time to get fingerprinted and fill out my security packet. Seven years' worth of life, all documented on paper with references for most of it. Or at least the last couple years' worth, since my clearance needs to be renewed.
